Towers were built in San Gimignano as a show of wealth among citizens. Today only 14 towers remain in the city; the rest have collapsed. The ancient city is still beautiful, but PACKED with tourists. We only stopped here for a few hours before heading on to Florence.
This herd of tourists is small compared to what it's like in high season. (We were there in September.)
An old well in the middle of the main piazza. (This well is always on postcards, but I just can't remember the damn name.)
