Budapest by Night
View of Elizabeth (Erzsébet) Bridge from Buda
We climbed up Gellért hill to the Gellért
monument as the sun was setting, and boy was that an amazing sight! Not
only did we have full view over the Castle District and over the Danube
to Pest, but the city lit up like a thousand colorful jewels in the
dark night.
View over Budapest and the Castle district on Buda, which we had visited earlier that day.
Gellért
Monument was also cool - a statue on the highest hill overlooking the
city, it is supposedly "dedicated to the martyred Bishop Gellért,
the patron saint of Budapest," and "marks the spot where, according to
legend, he was sealed into a barrel and pushed into the Danube" (from TelltheTruthTravel.com).
It was a park area - very green & hilly, and we had to climb
many levels of stairs to get it to, but it was well worth it!

Here
is a picture I got from online, since I did not have the
right camera equipment to take pictures of the statue & park
itself. I did get many pictures of the lit city below, however! Some of
my best EVER.
